My second day of my first adventure at Bluesfest, meant I saw a few acts, but my anticpation grew as the little hand headed to the 8, and the big hand to the 12…

Always a fan of the Stray Cats, and having heard a lot from the Brian Setzer Orchestra, i was keen to say the least to see his latest incarnation. The stage set was impressive, cool artwork on the banner, awesome looking drum kits, and rumours all around me it was looking good.

The band came to the stage, and the crowd roared, Brian entered the satge and it was loader again, but as they started into the first song there was no front of house sound. On stage the band was oblivious, will full fold back and stage sound all would have seemed normal, up the front, were I was at least I could hear the stage sound.

People pointed in the air, screamed, and gesticulated, but at the end of the 2nd song, the PA system kicked-in, the crowd roared approval, and the jig was up. The song finished and Brian said in his southern drawl, “Was there a problem with the PA system?”, to which a huge roar followed, and Brian replied, “Well sorry, but that’s beyond our control, but we are gonna play you a little bit of rockabilly music!”. To which the crowd went into a frenzy as the tunes rocked out. Slim Jim from the Stray Cats came out mid-way through the set, and it was a rockin good ole time!!

Climbing on bass’s, guitars, and all sorts of antics, an awesome entertaining show, with even a version of “Folsom Prison Blues”, and “Great Balls of Fire” thrown in as well…. A great gig and one and all had a good time….

Well next are some of the pictures… Awesome gig…
