Well if you missed it, you missed it…. 2 Foo Fighters and 2 mates in their fun cover band, “Chevy Metal”, ripped through nearly 2 hours of covers, starting with the Knack’s “My Sharona” and including the one below for all us “Aussies”, Midnight Oils Power and the Passion.

The large crowd was loving it, and so was the band, Taylor Hawkins, one hell of an amazing drummer. Chevy Metal, did not leave out the metal, with special guest Andrew Stockdale coming out of the VIP tent to do a version of The Wizard by Black Sabbath. Hawkins’ drumming in this song was off the hook. They also played Van Haalen, Motley Crue, Thin Lizzy, and even Billy Joel (Not very metal). Snapper Rocks was not only a noun but was also a verb, rocking as the sun went down, and some of the world’s best surfers warmed up for the next day after the Women’s competition went down to the quarter finals.

Steph Gilmore even stepped up for a tune as well, now adding Chevy Metal/Foo Fighters to her jamming mates. it was rocking and pretty awesome afternoon… Here are some pictures from the arvo as well
